Alarming Footage Captures Point Police Get Knifed in Ambush
A senior officer who jumped to the help of a partner who was ambushed by a knifeman received the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a knife to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the policemen and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a road collision in the area in mid-2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.
"Officer stabbed," PC Wolstencroft stated over his communication device.
Officer-mounted and vehicle camera footage made public by the force showed Brown, wearing in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon pointed forward.
He struck the policeman who lost balance and dropped to the pavement, before Sgt Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the floor although being continually attacked with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and sought a safe opportunity, ending the confrontation to an end.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need help on my neck now, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell sustained multiple lacerations to his throat and further wounds to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster received slash wounds.
The department stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to control his fellow officer's hemorrhaging before emergency responders arrived.
This most recent honor follows after the three officers were granted organizational Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local officer association in spring 2024.
